The holidays are here and with them comes the holiday travel.

As you're driving this week, you should be careful of all the distractions.

We are all guilty of letting something distract us while driving. Some of us check emails or text message or even try to read directions to get to holiday destinations.

Just how quickly can a distraction lead to an accident?

Using the driving simulator at the Rural Law Enforcement and Technology Center in Hazard WYMT found out!

We're all guilty of letting things distract us while driving.

"Well, eating, I travel back and forth Indiana, Lexington and I snack a lot on the road," Naoma Colwell said.

Families are hitting the road for holiday travels and Denise Isaac says to keep the kids from being a distraction she provides entertainment.

"We have the DVD player or we'll bring the kids to read, just something for them to keep in their hands to keep them occupied," Denise Isaac said.

But some people say you should leave man's best friend at home.

"The number one big one is the use of cell phone while driving," Pam Sorrell said.

Remember this holiday season, nothing is more important than the safety of your family.

Just keep your travels joyful and from becoming a tragedy.

With all these travelers on the road another thing to consider is gas prices.

Triple-A is reporting gas prices have jumped slightly since this time last year in Kentucky.
