You probably know the song "God Bless America" or "God Bless the USA" but, have you ever heard of "God Bless the City of Hazard?"
It's a new tribute song written by a man from down under.
Yes, he's from Australia!
Hazard, Kentucky now has it's own song.
Ricky Ray, the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Hazard, who through a mutual friend was able to convince a chart topping christian band from Australia to make a tour stop here in Kentucky.
"We want you to come to Hazard, Kentucky. We'll come if you take up a love offering for us," Ray said.
Perhaps a love offering, means different things...to different people.
"They just took and loved the people, and people were so friendly to them," Haven King said.
There was so much love being offered around, the band members of Alabaster box stuck around for another concert called Explosion 220.
Get ready for some more love between the band and the city.
"It was the most beautiful stage we played on this year, probably ever." Matt Smallbone said.
"Everybody just liked to hear the way they talked. Of course, they think we talk funny too," Haven King said.
"The mayor was even kind enough to make all of us Dukes of Hazard, which was the highlight for me," Smallbone said.
"They put together their thoughts about the city, and sent it to a friend in Australia," King said.
Dr. Robert J. Nixon in fact, Director of the Australian Society of Musicology and Composition,
he wrote and composed "God Bless the City of Hazard" a song which Hazard is surely blessed to have.
The band members of Alabaster box say they want to get back to Hazard for a concert sometime soon.
meanwhile pastor ricky ray of the First Baptist Church says they hope to perform the Hazard song during
services...sometime in the near future.
