Former Fayette County Teacher Appears In Court On Sex Abuse Charges

A former Lexington school teacher accused of sexually abusing five girls made his first court appearance Wednesday.

Kenneth Dunn was in Fayette District Court early Wednesday afternoon where his attorney pleaded his client not guilty.

Dunn's next court appearance is scheduled for December 28th. Kentucky State Police arrested 50 year-old Kenneth Edward Dunn, of Lexington, on sexual abuse 1st charges.

Dunn was a teacher at Linlee Elementary School in Lexington. Police say he was arrested after a six month investigation. State Police say they charged Dunn with three counts of Sexual Abuse 1st charges, involving three different victims. Police say the victims were abused while they were under 12 years of age.

State police say they also charged Dunn with 2 counts of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd degree involving 2 other victims under 14 years of age. Fayette County School Officials say the two victims were students at Linlee elementary and were Dunn's students.

School officials say Dunn had been teaching since 1985 and began teaching at Linlee in 1990. School officials say Dunn didn't have any previous complaints. Police say Dunn was suspended from Linlee after Kentucky State Police began investigating. Dunn then resigned from his teaching position last August after being told he would be fired.

Dunn's parents paid a $16,000 cash bond and he was released from the Fayette County Detention Center late Tuesday night.
