He came home after serving in Iraq, but all that's left of his home is ashes.

The soldier and his family do have a roof over their heads, but not much more.

"I'm risking my life overseas and this is what I have to come home to," Zachary Roberts said.

Zachary Roberts would have spent his first night with his newborn baby girl at home instead, he's spending a three week leave from Iraq with his family in an empty apartment.

"Just thankful they are alive, safe," Roberts said.

Police believe the fire was intentionally set with a fire bomb.

A witness allegedly saw two guys throw something at the house, but there's only one possible reason the family can find for something like this.

"My son dated a girl."

While police are searching for more answers, community members like Missy Boggs are trying to make the Roberts now empty apartment feel like a home for the holidays

If you want to help Roberts and his family you can call the housing authority at 606-633-7144
