He came home after serving in Iraq, but all that's left of his home is ashes.
The soldier and his family do have a roof over their heads, but not much more.
"I'm risking my life overseas and this is what I have to come home to," Zachary Roberts said.
Zachary Roberts would have spent his first night with his newborn baby girl at home instead, he's spending a three week leave from Iraq with his family in an empty apartment.
"Just thankful they are alive, safe," Roberts said.
Police believe the fire was intentionally set with a fire bomb.
A witness allegedly saw two guys throw something at the house, but there's only one possible reason the family can find for something like this.
"My son dated a girl."
While police are searching for more answers, community members like Missy Boggs are trying to make the Roberts now empty apartment feel like a home for the holidays
