An eastern Kentucky inmate who's been on the run has been caught.

Police say they arrested Rodney Stamper at his parents home Tuesday afternoon.

After four days on the run, Rodney Stamper is once again in police custody.

Police say they found him within minutes of checking his parents house Tuesday afternoon.

This isn't the first time Stamper has escaped and once again been arrested. Police say for the past several years Stamper has mutilated himself in order to check into the hospital and then escape.

When officers found Stamper at his parents home in Grapevine, they say his stomach was cut open and he was bleeding.

"We just looked through the house, we didn't see him upstairs. There was an open door leading to the basement. His clothes were a little torn. He has a pretty good size laceration to his upper abdomen," Officer David Wiseman said.

Stamper was taken to the Hazard ARH to be treated for the stomach lacerations.

Police say after the hospital clears him, he will return to Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Prior to his escape, Stamper was being held on theft charges, now on top of that police say he faces escape charges.
