Help is here, that's the message from promoters of a national bus tour.

On Tuesday, they parked the bus right in downtown Harlan. It's designed to save people money on their prescriptions.

Paul Williams says he depends on several different medications.

"I have diabetes and I take Glucophage and I take Actos," Williams said.

Williams, who fought in Vietnam, says he gets veteran's medical assistance but to get his prescriptions he has to drive at least two hours three times a year to see his physician.

"Disabled through my legs mainly and it's hard to drive that far cramped up in a car," Williams said.

So Williams stopped by the Help is Here Express, a bus that's touring the country offering alternatives to pricy prescriptions.

Anyone interested is asked to fill out an application and answer about ten questions.

"After that they'll have a good idea if they qualify for these programs," Jeff Gilbert said.

One of nearly five hundred programs the partnership for prescription assistance offers.

Paul Williams hopes this offers him an alternative to driving hours just to get affordable medicine.

The partnership for prescription assistance bus will be in Floyd County Wednesday.

It will be set up at the Mud Creek Clinic in Grethel from 12pm-2pm.
