State transportation officials say a major Eastern Kentucky highway is one of the deadliest roads in Kentucky.
U.S. 421 runs through Jackson, Clay, Leslie, and Harlan Counties. Local transportation officials met Wednesday in Harlan and discussed ways to improve trouble spots along 421. They are hoping to do the work in the next several months.
"New striping on the side of the road, guard rail replacement, signage along sharp turns," said Dennis Gardner with the Department of Transportation Safety.
Transportation officials are looking to the public for input on what needs to be improved. They'll be meeting in Manchester Thursday and Hazard on Tuesday.
