The Kentucky Horse Park hosted the Second Annual John Henry Memorial Equine Adoption Fair Saturday evening. The event is designed to raise money for abused and neglected horses across the Commonwealth.
More than two dozen adoptable horses from several equine rescue agencies were shown to potential adopters at the event. The horses that were available come from a variety of situations but all have been rehabilitated and are ready for new homes.
The adoption fair also include a live and silent auction to benefit the Kentucky Horse Council's Save Our Horses (SOHO) fund. The fund provides support for horses that are confiscated by law enforcement or other animal welfare organization.
Last year's event raised $16,000 and organizers expect to surpass that amount this year.
