Teen Dies Hours After Being Shot- Jermont Terry Reports
A Lexington teen dies Thursday afternoon, hours after being shot in the head.
18-year old Darrin Bates died shortly after noon.
Lexington police were called to an apartment on Winburn Drive around 6:30 Wednesday evening.
They found the 18-year-old shot in the head.
19-year Donovan Markeith Brown has been charged in the crime with first degree assault. Lexington Police say they're now working to upgrade that charge to murder.
Friends who witnessed the incident say it was an accident.
They say two cousins and a friend were playing with a gun when it accidentally went off.
Brown appeared in court Thursday afternoon. He's being held on a $15,000 bond.
