During an interview with a Los Angeles radio station, Rep. John Yarmuth used the words "outrageous" and "nauseated" to describe a moment of silence for the king of pop.
It took place two weeks ago in the house chambers. The Louisville lawmaker told the Los Angeles radio station he felt compelled to leave the house floor because it was not the appropriate time or place to be honoring Michael Jackson.
"This was all about interrupting the floor of the House for something that was not related to the business that we were supposed to be doing," he said.
Yarmuth said he never intended for his actions to slight Michael Jackson's legacy.
He did say he has no problem supporting a resolution being pushed by the Congressional Black Caucus that would honor Jackson's humanitarian efforts.
However on Thursday, the Speaker of the House said she wouldn't support a resolution that would honor Jackson.
In a news conference Thursday Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she didn't think it was necessary.

A public official who represents the people should be cognizant of the history of a community. Many may not know but one of the Jackson sisters once lived in Louisville. Many years ago and her children may have been born here. Offending people who live in Louisville and elsewhere, the congressman may need to not comment and stick to representing Kentucky. I think he owes the family an apology who may still live in Louisville or elsewhere.

M.J. was NOT just a performing entertainer. He was a HUMANITARIAN that brought attention to world hunger, the homeless, orphans, veterans of wars, children with incurable diseases he was inducted into the Guenniss Book of world records for supporting the most charities. You never hear the good this man did, only the bad stuff which was proven to be false allegations BOTH times he was accused. Had he not followed his PR people he would have never settled out of court. He wanted to fight it, but they said it would be more cost effective to settle out of court. That was his big mistake, it set him up to be accused again and you can tell by watching the documentary, a lot of it was staged. It is sad that people as a whole will crucify a person before knowing the facts. A lesson here to learn is NEVER prejudge someone by gossip even if you think the person telling you is honest. Honest Ignorance hurts in words and actions. Treat everyone as you would want them to treat you.
