It's a difficult first day back to school for students and faculty at Riverside Christian Academy.
They lost 27-year-old, elementary basketball coach, Michael Alex, when he and a professor from the University of Louisville both died in a fiery car crash on new year's day.
With one more game left to play in the season, his basketball team members want to play one more time for the coach who they say taught them much more than the game.
There's one thing missing from Riverside Christian.
Originally from Oregon, Michael Alex's arrival at Riverside Christian, through a ministry program six months ago, was what some people in the community called an answered prayer.
Alex was the head coach of the Riverside boys and girls elementary teams.
They had a game on New Year's Day, but coach alex never made it to the gym.
With one more game left in the season, one player asked to play their January 12th game in honor of Coach Alex.
The basketball team will play January 12th in honor of coach Alex.
School officials say they are also planning a memorial service within the next few weeks.
