FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - An inmate was sentenced Monday to five
years in prison for mailing former Governor Paul Patton a
threatening letter.
U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell also ordered 34-year-old Aaron
Rivers to spend three years on supervised release and required him
to pay a one-hundred dollar special assessment.
Rivers pleaded guilty in October to sending Patton a letter in
November Two-thousand-three that read, "ANTHRAX, Die American
official."
Rivers pleaded guilty to a count of mailing a threatening communication. He was indicted in Two-thousand-four but underwent at least two evaluations related to the charges.
Patton was unharmed by the mailing.
