A nursing assistant is behind bars on drug charges while her husband recovers from an overdose.
37-year-old Heather Hatton is being held on a $15,000 bond on possession charges.
Her husband, 47-year-old Jimmy Hatton, is on life support at Hazard ARH, where his wife worked.
WYMT's Michel Mason spoke with Jimmy Hatton's daughter this afternoon. We also talked with Heather Hatton in jail, but she did not want to go on camera.
She says today is her 16th wedding anniversary and is hoping her husband makes a full recovery.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Hatton's daughter says her stepmother is partly to blame for what's happened.
Perry County Sheriff's Deputies found Jimmy Hatton unresponsive in his home on Hull School Road on Tuesday.
Hatton's daughter, Angela, says her father abused drugs in the past, but has never experimented with such a dangerous combination.
"The Xanax and Methadone thing, he's never done," said Angela Hatton.
Angela Hatton called deputies shortly after her father was put on life support. Deputies tell us that led them to search Heather Hatton's purse and car. They say they found dozens of Methadone and Hydrocodone pills.
"I do know that she did go to Michigan to get the medication. And if you set medication in front of someone that will abuse it, then you know, I think you're just as guilty as the person who took them," said Angela Hatton.
Heather Hatton denies buying the drugs and says she did not give any drugs to her husband. Deputies say they cannot prove otherwise.
Heather Hatton says she called 911 when she found her husband unresponsive, but his daughter still has questions.
"Especially being a C.N.A and working with patients, it just don't add up. I believe whole heartedly that she wanted him dead," said Angela Hatton.
"If my father passes, I think she should be held responsible because she brought those in the home to him. He had no access to those medications."
Heather Hatton claims she was trying to get her husband to stop using.
Police have not filed any charges against Heather Hatton in connection with her husband's overdose, she is only charged with possession at this time.
Jimmy Hatton's daughter, Angela, says she now has custody of the couple's 14-year-old son.
Meanwhile, it's unclear if Heather Hatton is still employed by Hazard ARH. Hospital officials did not return our request for that information.
