Woman Says She Was Held Hostage & Beaten

She told police the abuse was bad enough she thought he killed her, now the man she says held her hostage for more than five hours is in jail.

Police say 32-year-old Danny Hughes held Melissa Creekmore hostage and assaulted her several times.

Melissa Creekmore told police her ALLEGED 5 hour beating..SHE SAYS at the hands of her boyfriend Danny Hughes...started at 9 o'clock Monday morning.

She said escape wasn't an option.

"She tried to several times but each time she was not able to, he kept control of her," Detective Shannon Smith said.

Police say Hughes pulled her hair out and and kept hitting her in the head. All over a relationship that had somehow gone sour.

"He would ask her questions related to the relationship and as she said the answers, were not satisfactory to him, he would assault her based on the answers she would give him," Detective Smith said.

It all ended about 2 when police say Hughes left and Creekmore was able to call 9-1-1 and get help.

Hughes was arrested about 11 o'clock Monday night.

The victim told police she was beaten so badly that at one point she thought she had been killed.

Right now Hughes is charged with unlawful imprisonment, but based on what a grand jury decides and other factors, he would face more serious charges.

"If it should be assault or criminal attempt of murder, right now we're heavily leaning toward it being assault," Detective Smith said.

Creekmore was treated at Lake Cumberland Hospital and Hughes is in jail on 25-thousand dollars bond.

Police say Creekmore suffered a head injury, cuts and lost some of her hair.

She has since been released from the hospital.
