It's going to take a community effort to get rid of the drug problem in eastern Kentucky, that's what one recovering addict says.
Fred Mills says he used drugs for 18 years, but now at age 35 he's been clean for nine months.
Mills says most people on drugs are depressed and feel lost in the world and what they need most is a helping hand.
"Everyday my life consisted of being sick, looking for drugs and using drugs to get well enough to eat and take a shower," Mills said.
Mills, along with many leaders in Martin County, held an educational forum on drugs Monday night.
They're asking everyone to step up and help drug addicts.
They say the first step is to have an open mind and to inform addicts that the habit could cost their life.
