Clerk Injured In Lexington Attempted Robbery

A gas station clerk is injured tonight during an attempted robbery in Lexington.
It happened around 7:00pm at the Exxon off Newtown Pike, near Interstate 75.
Police say a the suspect demanded cash from the clerk who refused to turn over the money.
Investigators say the robber then pulled out a gun.
The clerk realized it was fake and fought back, taking a swing at the suspect with a metal pipe.
The robber then sprayed the clerk with pepper spray and took off without any of the money.
The clerk was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Investigators say the robbery may be connected to another recent hold up in Lexington.
