A man is caught on tape, taking thousands of dollars worth of appliances from an eastern Kentucky business over the weekend.
But this isn't the first time. Employees at Watts Mobile Homes in Hazard say they bought a security camera after four break-ins in the past seven months.
Watts Mobile Homes is a family owned business and because they say they've lost twenty-thousand-dollars in stolen property, it's hard to keep their doors open.
Now that they can identify alleged thieves on camera, they hope to save some money.
Six-thousand-dollars worth of refrigerators, washers, dryers and other appliances were taken from mobile home units in just a matter of hours and it was all caught on tape.
“Before we had the video, it could be anyone from anywhere and now at least we have a vehicle and a person,” Tricia Watts said.
Watts says last Sunday her sister stopped by the business and saw these logs were out of place and knew something was wrong.
After going through 48 hours of surveillance video, they noticed a man came not once, but twice allegedly leaving with twenty-thousand-dollars worth of appliances.
“One of the people who works with us made a positive identification of the gentleman so hopefully the police will find him and arrest him and he'll have to pay,” Watts said.
Several mobile home units have empty spaces where appliances used to be.
After several burglaries over the past seven months, Watts says it's taking a toll.
“For the small business owner, it makes it really hard for us to stay in business when people are coming and just stealing from us all the time,” Watts said.
Hazard Police say they're looking for the man seen on this tape and Watts says she hopes they get at least some of their property back.
Hazard Police told me moments ago they have recovered some of the stolen property and may be close to making an arrest.
Meanwhile, Watts says if this problem continues they will consider hiring armed guards.
