National Group Says Kentucky Has 47th Worst Humane Laws In The U.S.

Dozens of people rallied at the state capitol to push for tougher penalties against people who abuse animals.

Right now, people arrested in Kentucky for torturing animals are only charged with a misdemeanor. It takes a second offense for a felony.

At least four state lawmakers have filed bills to toughen animal abuse laws.

A national group says Kentucky has the 47th worst humane laws in the country.
