Marine aircraft causes damage in neighborhood

They thought it was a big storm or even a tornado that caused damage to their properties, then they realized it was a low-flying military aircraft.

It happened Tuesday evening on Willow street in Frankfort. A Marine Corps officer said it was part of an urban training exercise where the Osprey aircraft land in tight spaces.

Neighbors say the aircraft was flying right over their rooftops and caused tree limbs to come crashing down, lawn furniture to be thrown several feet and playsets to be tipped over.

Captain Robert Shuford of the 24th Marine expeditionary unit apologized to neighbors for the mess they caused and says a team will be out in the neighborhood tomorrow to assess the damage. He also warned that the training would continue for about another week, but they would not be landing in the area they were on Tuesday.

According to AAA, gas prices are the highest they've ever been this time of year and could likely continue to climb during the busy summer driving season. How high do you think they'll go?
