A Montgomery County father is upset, because his child was given the season flu vaccine by accident.

The flu mist vaccine was administered by workers from the Montgomery County Health Department. The health department takes care of day-to-day school health needs at Camargo Elementary School.

School officials say the health worker mistook seven-year-old Jacob Wages for another child with a similar name, and gave him the vaccine.

Wages' father Matthew Angel was he's upset, because he specifically denied permission for his son to receive the shot.

Montgomery County Health Department spokeswoman Pam Spradling says an investigation has been launched to see exactly how this sort of mix-up happened.

To Saxy Momma, You need to due some research regarding other food allergies causing death, adults and children have died from eggs and milk etc. My children are anaphylatic to eggs and by-products which makes it impossible for them to consume eggs. If you can eat them that is great all that tells me is that you are at the mild end for allergy. My oldest had to be brought back to life using every medical intervention possible after ingesting a food which contained egg, his epi-pen was just not enough. My Doctor says they cannot get the vaccine due to their severe allergy. As for the Autism parts of your comment as I am the Mother of a child with severe Autism I am aware I do not know what caused it but I don't put others down for their views. You having 2 siblings puts you at an increased genetic risk of having children of your own be Autistic I would be curious to see if your views change, God forbid it ever happened to you.

For those of you saying that you or your child are allergic to eggs...I have severe asthma and take the seasonal flu shot every year even though I have had allergy skin tests done and have tested to being allergic to eggs. I have never changed my diet...eggs are ingredients in stuff that I eat everyday and I eat an egg for breakfast a few times a week and it doesn't seem to bother me. I have heard of people dying from allergies to peanuts but not eggs. As for autism, I do not know of any cases beyond the age of 3-4 yrs of age where a vaccine was administered and the child suddenly became autistic. My siblings are both autistic so I've done a lot of research. And no I do not believe that the child should have been administered the shot w/out parental consent. Most places require that parents be PRESENT to give consent and be there when the vaccine is administered bet that is one change they will make in the future to prevent this from happening again.

To Tosha.I dont know how old you are or where you attended school.but when i went we sure didnt have to have a note we stood in line and took the shots.we didnt know the nurses were coming until it was time to line up.i think most kids would have skipped school if they knew before hand.i took a smallpox and stayed in bed for weeks it liked to killed me.and i have three scars to prove it where it spreaded.so they can keep the flu shots i sure not taking any of them. From The Old School.
