The trial for a man accused of beating his girlfriend's four-year-old child is underway.
Testimony began Thursday in the trial of Elmo Greer, Junior in London.
Police say that on April 3rd of last year the boy's mother told them she woke up in the middle of the night to find her son beaten and bloodied and he was with her boyfriend Elmo Greer, Junior.
Defense attorney's say Greer had a bad reaction to the sleep drug Ambien then tripped and fell over the boy.
The prosecution called a couple doctors to the stand, one of them said the boys injuries were not accidental.
Greer's defense attorneys say he never wanted to hurt the boy and no criminal act occurred.
