Local officials and representatives of the US Department of Agriculture presented W.R. Castle Fire & Rescue with the keys to their new 2008 rescue truck.
Rescue 1 was purchased with funding from USDA Rural Development, 55% of which was a grant totaling $35,640 and 45% of which was a loan for $29,160. The vehicle replaced a 1987 model that was unsafe for continued use.
W.R. Castle Fire & Rescue responds to around 140 calls each year, nearly three-quarters of which involve medical emergencies or rescues.
