Meth Lab Bust In Downtown Lexington

Police bust an active meth lab near downtown Lexington.

Police were called to the Wassmer Apartments on East High Street just before eleven Friday morning.

State probation and parole officers spotted some suspicious items in the home during a visit. Police say the meth lab was small, but active.

Police took Kevin Hewlett and Donald Wayne Lee into custody. They are charged with manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

The upstairs of the apartment building was evacuated for a short time. Neighbors tell 27 NEWSFIRST they had no idea dangerous activity was going on right next door.

I thought meth was problem of the sticks not the "big city" in the Bluegrass. Next thing you know it will be oxy. and other poor hillbilly drugs there. Just think no more coke and grass.

It is about time probation enforces some drug laws. They ignore drug use and pretend to send people to treatment
