It didn't take very long for a Knox County jury to find a woman not guilty of killing her husband.

Ginger Smith claimed all along that her husband Joe killed himself, but police didn't buy it.

After two days of testimony and just less than an hour of deliberations, the jury reached that verdict of not guilty.

Not guilty to murder or even the lesser charges of 2nd degree manslaughter or wreckless homicide the jury could have considered for Ginger Smith.

Police say on October 28th 2005, Ginger Smith called 911 to say her husband, Joe Smith, had committed suicide.

Smith was charged with murdering her husband nine months later after police say she changed her story about what happened that night.

Prosecutors argued Ginger Smith was the one who pulled the trigger, but a former Kentucky Chief Medical Examiner testified that it was suicide.

Joe Smith's father says Ginger Smith got away with murdering his son.

The prosecutor says he respects the jury's decision.

We were unable to get reaction from Ginger Smith or her attorney on her acquittal.
