Many people suffered damage after the weekend storms.

WYMT’s Heather Haley visited with two families in Pike County, both of which had their homes destroyed due to the heavy rain.

Theresa Eams says she and her family were inside their home in the Blackberry area of Pike County.

County officials say the heavy rains caused a mud slide brought to bring trees crashing into their home Sunday morning around five am.

Eams says everyone got out safely but not without losing everything they own.

“I ran outside and saw the tree and you could hear it popping and I was like get out of the house,” Eams

Ermel Ratliff also had a disturbing wake-up-call Monday morning around 1 am when he says mud and trees came barreling through his home in the Marrow Bone area of Pike County.

County officials say it appears an old mine burst due to the heavy rains. The rains sent the mud down hill which broke the home into pieces and moved it more than 30 feet.
