Missing Todler Found Safe

A Bullitt County child who wandered away from home late last night was found safe this morning after an extensive search.

The Bullitt County Sheriff's Department reports three-year-old Abigail Arnwine was missing from the family home off Kentucky 245 when her mother returned from a chore.

Sheriff Donnie Tinnell says the youngster's mother went to help her older son, who had run out of gas. Before leaving, the mother told the child to go get in bed with her father.

After receiving a call about the child, the department formed a search party of about 60 people and dogs who canvassed about two-thousand yards near the edge of a woods.

Tinnell says the child has wandered away from home before, but
only during daylight hours.

Im responding to the comment left by carol in Ky. Dont judge a childs well being by her looks or the emotion she is showing. I have a two year old and he does not smile all the time. Two to three olds are at a stage where they are learning to deal with their emotions and they tend to explore a lot and get frustrated easy. This photo was probably taken on one of her bad days. The mother should have woke the father up before leaving and explained the situation.

PUT A CHAIN LOCK AT THE TOP OF THE DOOR SO SHE CAN'T GET OUT. THAT'S WHAT I DID FOR MY 3 AND 5 YEAR OLD. THEY HAVE TRIED TO SNEAK OUT BUT THE CHAIN STOPPED THEM. THANK THE LORD

Why did she not just take the child with her. Like others said, wake the father and MAKE SURE he gets up first. Never leave a toddler awake without supervision. I am not being mean to the mother either, people make mistakes, Please just start keeping an eye on these babies. Thank God she is ok.

From the looks of this child, there is something wrong in that home environment. Perhaps Child Protective Services should look into this situation...She definitely does not look happy and her eyes show emtional pain that couldn't be adequately expressed by a 3-year old. Wonder why she keeps leaving home?

It looks to me like the parents would know to have a dead bolt on the door and even a look on the screen door (at the top) if this child has wondered off before. How did the parents not know that she went out the door at 12:00am? Did the dog not bark or anything? It just sounds to funny to me.

why would you leave a child in a house with a sleeping parent?? Hello am i the only parent who sees a 3 yr old doing what its told??? i dont think so this needs to be looked at closer. when my daughter was 3 she learned to unlock the door, so i put a deadbolt on and a chain lock up high enough she still cant reach it and shes 5 now. you cant replace a child please be more careful!!!!!!!!!!

Better idea then just locking your door. Wake up your husband make sure he knows your leaving the house to help another before just leaving especially if she has WONDERED off before. You will wake up sometime to find her wandered off never to return. Will be to late for what ifs then!

Lock the door! Put a deadbolt at the top of the door if she can unlock the knob. If the child has wandered away before, they should know better. In another story, it states there is a pond nearby. Heaven forbid that the child "wanders away" again and she's found in the pond. I'll say it again...LOCK THE DOOR!!
