Several difficult options may be on the table, when Lexington city leaders decide how to make up a big revenue shortfall.
Mayor Jim Newberry says Lexington is now facing an estimated $12-13 million shortfall.
So he says the city may consider layoffs, pay cuts, furloughs, and getting rid of some city programs.
The mayor wants city division directors to come up with ways to trim costs.
He'll present a budget reduction plan to the Urban County Council in January.

How about pulling the plug of that new exhibition center and museum where the Lyric once stood. Several millions went to renovate the bldg and now is projected to be at $400K yearly operating loss for the city.

i am not saying get rid of it but it sure does need to be scrutinized. is there really a need for the big buses? and as many runs? could they not go to the smaller ones that are used for the Wheels program? or like mike said, vans. cheaper to insure, cheaper to maintain, cheaper to fill up. and unless i park somewhere, to ride it, it is not accessible to me. and i STILL pay for it. almost $200/yr.
