Several Vigils Held at Kentucky Colleges

Hundreds of Kentucky college students came together on campus' across the state to remember the victims at Virginia Tech Tuesday.

11 Kentucky colleges and universities held memorials throughout the day, from worship services, to candlelight vigils.

Many students just wanted to let those at Virginia Tech know they were thinking of them.

A candlelight vigil was held at the University of Kentucky, bringing many together in mourning.

Another candlelight service Tuesday night was held at Centre College in Boyle County. Centre students are also raising money for a Virginia Tech support fund.

Students at Eastern Kentucky University also paused today to remember those killed in the shooting rampage. The tragedy hit close to home for one EKU freshman. Chris Harding was a Virginia native and many of his friends attend the university.

A candlelight vigil at Western Kentucky University was also held tonight.
Leaders at Western have been researching ways to keep students informed in times of emergency. The university is considering a text messaging system that would notify students of emergency situations, as well as reminders for such things as registering for class.

Western University leaders are expected to meet in the next couple of weeks to discuss the text messing system.
