Young Woman Killed In Crash Along I-75

A tragic accident along Interstate 75 claimed the life of a woman and sent her boyfriend to the hospital with serious injuries.

Amber Rachford and Gary Cooper were coming home from a Cincinnati Reds game late Saturday night when their car crashed in Scott County.

Amber had recently moved back to Lexington, from Florida, to start a new life with her boyfriend and high school sweetheart Gary Cooper.
Police say 27-year-old Rachford likely died instantly, when the car she was riding in veered off the southbound lane of Interstate 75, just miles from their home. The car went into a ditch and struck a tree. Gary was air-lifted to UK Hospital with serious injuries. At last check he was in good condition.

Police are still investigating what caused the couple's car to go off the road.

Unfortunately I am just finding out about Amber’s death. My heart instantly dropped to my feet when I saw the news. I dated Amber for a year and she was truly a remarkable and wonderful person. Unfortunately my job drove us apart and eventually we lost touch over the years and I’m immediately regretting that. But Gary's actions were immature, irresponsible and completely unacceptable. A good guy would not risk doing that, especially with someone he loves and cares about - - it is entirely his fault, 3 DUI’s, really? How many times is this guy going to learn and at what cost? I’ll go ahead and answer my own question…at the cost of an innocent life. Seeing as how I am just finding this out now, I’m experiencing a lot of grief and sorrow for Amber and her family. For Gary I have nothing but disgust and hatred. I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone. Amber, Continue to Rest In Peace, you will always be loved and missed.

I knew both Amber and Goof(or Gary) pretty well, well atleast I used to. I feel terrible for both families. Gary is such a good guy. But everyone makes mistakes some more costly than others. And Amber was a beautiful person inside and out. But I know Gary Cooper, IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT. Accidents happen. Bad things happen to good people unfortunately. But Gary I love you and your family, and me and my people will be praying for you. Very very sorry to Ambers family too.

Amber was and is a beautiful soul, a loving heart, and a dear cousin. Please pray for strength for everyone who loves her here on Earth--wonderful friends, caring family, boyfriend Gary, ex-husband Manny, and especially her loving sister and mother who are grieving so for their baby, Amber Brianne.
