Group Of Experts Wanted To Lower Lake Cumberland Even More

The group of national experts behind the government's decision to lower water levels at Lake Cumberland actually wanted a more drastic drop.

The experts suggested water levels be dropped by 70 feet to ease pressure on leaking Wolf Creek Dam.

Government officials said lowering levels that much would affect water supply intakes which serve thousands of people.

The experts agreed on a 40 foot drop as long as the dam is constantly monitored.
