Child Found Safe, Shooting Suspect On The Run

The search is over for a missing three-year old boy in Lexington.
The child was taken from the home after his mother was shot this morning.
Police responded around three this morning to a shooting call at 2656 Chant Court.
They found a woman with gunshots wound to the stomach.
She was taken to UK Hospital where she's listed in stable condition.

Police say the suspect, Arturo Castro, is the woman's boyfriend.
Police tell us after the shooting, Castro took off with the couple's son, and that he was armed.

After searching the area, police found Castro's car at a home on Clays Mill Road. However, Castro and the child were nowhere to be found.

Lexington Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST they were in the process of issuing an Amber Alert, when one of Castro's family members called them to say they had the child.
Police found the three-year old at a home on Birch Drive.
He was unharmed.

Castro is still on the run. He has family in Pontiac, MI. Lexington Police say they have contacted police agencies to the north, to make them aware of the situation.
