It happened early this morning along Highway 27 near Lancaster.

The crash left Garrard County Emergency Management Director Dwayne Nave seriously injured and killed the driver of the other vehicle, Will Quinn. Kentucky State Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST Nave was driving his official vehicle when he crossed the center line and hit Quinn's truck head on.

Garrard County high school students Josh Owens and Kayla Moore were behind Nave's SUV on their way home from prom and saw the wreck happen. Owens jumped out and rescued a passenger in Quinn's truck.
