The man accused of setting up an elaborate hidden video system so he could spy on people inside a home appeared in court Monday to answer to a video voyeurism charge.

Police arrested the Morehead State University employee last week, after the couple living in the home found the camera.

54-year-old David Cox stood before a judge Monday morning, facing felony video voyeurism charges. An automatic not guilty plea was entered by his lawyer.

Police say the Morehead State University staff member set up a video camera to spy on people inside a home without them knowing.

According to investigators, the video camera was discovered in the bedroom of the home. Police say Cox befriended the people who live in the home and installed the camera after gaining their trust.

During Monday's court proceedings, Cox never said a word. His lawyer asked the judge for a preliminary hearing. He'll be back in court on May 7.
