Gun Scare Leads To Concern At Area Schools

Some tense moments Wednesday morning on Lexington's north side, when police were called to a house on Spring Station drive.

Students at two nearby schools were told to stay inside after reports of a young man with a weapon.

Neighbors tell us it's not the first time police have been called to this home, but exactly what happened this time is anything but clear.

Some neighbors say a member of a paving crew started taunting the 16-year-old boy across the street from the work site. Others say it was the boy who verbally went off.

The paving crew claims the boy stood at his front door with a weapon.

Police searched the house, but came up empty. They didn't find any weapons inside.

While all this was going on, students from Bryan Station Middle and High Schools who were outside were told to come into the schools as a precaution.

There were no arrests and no one was injured.

My little sister attends bryanstation middle and my big sister attends bryan station high. I totally agree that they should have locked the 16 year old up.... but i am glad that they let every one know.

I live in this neighborhood and this is not a suprise to anyone in the area. I really am shocked that no charges were filed and nothing done to protect all of us and our families from this kid and his family. At the VERY least he should be required to have some psycological workup to make sure we don't end up with another shooting rampage going on. Please protect the rest of us.

I was there and the Paving crew didn't do anything to taunt the boy. The mother stated he had problem. This doesn't give him the right to act out. He needs to be charged so he can get help. This is the type of person who does the school shooting that has been in the news.

Im guessing the kid probably had a bb gun or some type of airsoft gun. But it was a good idea to lockdown the school for a precaution. I agree the kid should be charged with wanton endangerment or something.
