Friends Reach Out To Help Severely Injured Teen

A central Kentucky teenager is up against some serious odds after he was injured in a construction accident.

Garrard County High School freshman Cody Woolums remains in the intensive care unit at Kentucky Children's hospital, but his friends are taking some quick action to help in his recovery.

Cody Woolums was helping with a construction project Monday Morning when a wall collapsed and fell on him.

The 15-year-old has already had a couple of surgeries and we're told his injuries are severe, including needing a breathing and feeding tube.

When his friends heard how serious things were, they admit were scared, but they've turned their worries into something positive. They are now trying to raise money to help pay for his medical bills.

Students at Garrard County High School are asking more than their classmates to help. They're putting jars up all over town, asking the community to help Cody.

Folks at the school said they can't think of anyone who doesn't like Cody. He's the guy with the great laugh who is always fun to be around.

Teachers say when Cody is well enough to have visitors, they'll be collecting the money and taking it to his family.

To correct a mistake that someone has made, Codys grandfather had a stroke. He had this stroke Three days before Cody's accident, so it was not due to the stress of Cody. Cody is recovering well and is still in ICU. He will soon be going to Cardinal Hill and all we can do is leave it all in Gods hands for him to regain the ability to walk.. If any one wants to help then pray, pray alot this is what counts.

I understand that this family is now dealing with another medical issue. Apparently, this young boy's father or grandfather has had a heart attack due to the stress. Please continue to pray for this family.

I have a little boy myself and I can't imagine something like this happening to him. I pray that GOD will perform a miracle for this child and speed him to a full recovery. I also pray that ALL of Cody's friends and family use this incident as a reminder of just how fast life can change or end for that matter. God Bless everyone and get well soon Cody.
