Police: Man Lured Minor to Western Kentucky Then Raped Her

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - State police say a western Kentucky man has been charged with raping a 15-year-old Florida girl. Police say she was lured to Kentucky after they allegedly chatted on the Internet, state police said.

Police announced today that 34-year-old Marion Yarbrough, of Russellville, about 30 miles southwest of Bowling Green, has been
charged with seven counts of rape and unlawful transaction with a minor.

According to police, the girl says Yarbrough told her he was 21
years old and furnished her with a bus ticket from Miami to Nashville. Police say he picked her up there and took her to Bowling Green, where he allegedly raped her.

The girl was in state custody today and officials were arranging to send her home to Miami.

I understand what this man did was completely wrong and disgusting but when are these children going to be held accountable for their actions?? This girl willingly got on a bus 3000 miles away. He did not force her to do anything until he got her here. Even though he lied about his age what is a 15 year old girl doing going to meet a 21 year old man 3 states away? I am not defending this man at all. He is a predator and needs to be punished but if they would give some punishment to these children for running off to meet people from the internet they do not know, maybe it wouldn't happen as often. This girl is a victim of rape but she has also caused this to happen to herself. Had she stayed at her home in Miami, this man could have never hurt her. These children also need to be held accountable for their actions. At 15 if she had committed a crime, she would be tried as an adult in court so she is quite capable of knowing what is right and wrong. She consented to meeting this man and she knew what was going on. Children are not as gullable as we all think. She was going to meet a 21 year old boy and at 15 she knew about the possibilities. Children are always going to talk to strangers online and try to meet them unitl something is done to stop them. Maybe dateline should try to contact children and when they show up to meet 'their friend' Dateline should take them to a police station and call their parents. Tell their parents that their child just went to meet a stranger. I bet these cases of children being raped and abused by internet predators would decrease. This is a two way street and these children need to face consequences as well.

This man will get "his rape" when he gets to prison. Unfortunately the victims he molested will be scarred indefinitely however but they can rest assured that this man will indeed get what's coming to him.
