Proposed Ordinance Would Ban Karaoke and Dancing in Restaurants

No karaoke singing, and no dancing. It sounds like the movie "Footloose," and it could happen in Danville.

City officials are looking at the proposed ordinance, as part of a review of the city's alcohol policies. Some officials say the issue is when there is karaoke and dancing in restaurants, it creates crowds and more of a bar type atmosphere. They say it's not what the city wants.

At this point, it's only a proposal. Many residents say it's too harsh. At the same time, Danville officials are also considering allowing alcohol sales on Sunday.

People can share their thoughts at the Danville City Commission meeting May 29 at 5:30 at City Hall.

    I support this ordinance. Karaoke causes auto accidents, interferes with sporting events, and God knows what else.

    I send same info to City Councils. I started researching Second Hand Smoke in 1998. That year happened to be the year most of the largest studies were being completed. I had no idea what I was going to find. I am setting down exactly what I have found in the nine years of research of Second Hand Smoke and how and who is behind the Bans that have taken the world by storm. Geneva is the start of the largest hoax of this century. A group started what is now called The World Tobacco Control Council. The aim is exactly what it sounds like. The money came and still comes from the larges Pharmaceuticals, such as Johnson and Johnson and all the others who saw the money to be made. Johnson and Johnson spent over 500 million (latest figures I can find) to spread misinformation about Smoking and SHS. At first the message was Smoking is hazardous to your health and they found that it had no effect on the smoking public. They then hit on the idea that worked. They thought, and were correct;

    i've been to renos in danville to the karaoke bar on a friday and saturday night. i went because i wanted to feel more comfortable singing in front of a crowd.i can tell you that friday night was o.k. crowded yes but, people acted like they had some raising. saturday was a different story. some of those people; well i have seen animals that had more respect for themselves and others than what i saw out of some of those people that night. i am not a drinker and i do not condem people for doing so, but when people act as some of them acted,then my point of veiw changes. it is a real shame that some ruin it for others but, that seems to be some peoples nature.

    I say just dont go if you dont approve. Their are churches in every town, just because you dont go does not mean you have the right to stop them. Quit being so high and mighty and just dont spend your dollar if you do not agree.

    Maybe the folks in Danville can get together with the folks in London at the Wal-Mart and they can have a "Samuri Karaoke Contest" (see the story about the self stabbing in London's Wal Mart). Also, for Heather from Owingsville: What is fowl language? Is that when you bad mouth chickens?

    This isn't about singing. It's about alcohol sales on sunday. Jesus Christ, isn't that why the Elk's Clubs and others were formed? Stop pushing your religion on others.

    Messed with our taxes so we work for nothing, messed with our smoking so we smoke in the alleys. Messed with our gas so we can't afford to by food. Now you want to mess with our dancing I don't think so. Enough is enough, it's time to draw the line and start making you back up and give us back some of what we have lost.
