Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus, and Mount Vinson these are just some of the world's highest peaks that one eastern Kentuckian has scaled.

Now 61 year old Martin Douthitt of Breathitt County has his sights set on another mountain.

He now has a quest to climb the Seven Summits of the world.

At the age of 61, Martin Douthitt may not fit the perfect stereotype, of a world class mountain climber.

But don't let appearances fool you in the past six years, Douthitt has already climbed the highest summits and mountains on five of the world's seven continents in his quest to reach all Seven Summits.

Douthitt didn't even take up mountain climbing until the age of 55.

“I thought, you know at 55, maybe I've still got enough years left. I just regretted being too old and looking back and saying I wish I had tried mountain climbing,” Douthitt said.

It's that message of hope and believing no summit, is unreachable.

If he reaches the top, Douthitt says he'll next consider climbing the world's highest mountain... Mount Everest...
