Posted: Fri 9:14 PM, May 18, 2007

State theft charges are dismissed against a former Johnson County school finance officer and her assistant.

Officials say the state charges were dismissed so they can face charges in federal court.

Peggy Vanhoose and Shelby Coleman were charged with 26 counts of theft.

Investigators say they wrote paycheck's to Vanhoose's son while he was in jail.

A federal grand jury has already indicted the two women.
