Teacher Reprimanded for Showing Movie in School

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Danville High School teacher who showed the R-rated movie "The Departed" to a classroom of students has been reprimanded.

Through an Open Records request, The Advocate-Messenger newspaper obtained information that Leah Simpson was given a written reprimand for her actions.

In a letter to Simpson, Danville principal Win Smith wrote that Simpson followed accepted practice of getting parent permission slips signed, but failed to get administrative permission for showing the film.

Margo Milburn said she did not sign a permission slip for her child to view the movie. Milburn complained to school officials that "The Departed" contained excessive profanity and violence.
