NEWPORT, Ky. (AP) - The 30th anniversary of the Beverly Hills
Supper Club fire in northern Kentucky is also a milestone for
nearby Saint Luke Hospital.
Though 165 people died during the fire, dozens of others were
saved by the emergency plan St. Luke's put in place months before
the fire in May of 1977.
The plan was so effective that hospitals in 33 states and seven
countries asked for copies of Saint Luke's plan.
Former hospital C-E-O John Hoyle says he'll never forget that
night, but that the lessons learned during the aftermath of the
fire have saved countless lives over the years.
