Crews Pull Lewis County Man From Ohio River

Officials say 25-year-old Dan Eddington of the Garrison area of
Lewis County was in a boat with his wife, her two children and
another family member Saturday when it got caught up in the wake of a
passing barge.

The wake swept the family off the boat and into the water.
Eddington's wife, her two children and the other family member were
able to be rescued by barge workers. But, Eddington drowned.

This is horrible. I agree, everyone should always wear a life jacket, just like seat belts!!

This is so sad, I don't think they have found him yet. I have seen him ride past my house many times with their 2 children, I just can't imagine how the family feels. everyone else had on a life jacket I just wish he would have put one on. this just goes to show even if you are a good swimmer the life jacket is a very important thing, anyone going out on a boat needs to have one on. this is a terrible tradgedy to our community.

I'm from Lewis County (Vanceburg) and the word is that Dan had bought that boat just two days before the accident that took his life.
