Large Disorder At Lexington Nightclub

Some teens are in jail after a large disorder breaks out at a Lexington nightclub.

Four juveniles were arrested at Bandoleros on Woodhill Drive.
Police originally went there for a disorder, and found more than one hundred kids on the scene.

Lexington Police say they used a taser on one of the teens.
Police say that person's mother later called for an ambulance, when the kid experienced leg pain.
It's unclear if it had anything to do with the taser.

The teens were at the club for a "School's Out" event that was promoted by an independent group who rented the space for this venue. I personally feel that the situation was polarized and blown out of porportion. The police and news center appear to have an "expectation" when an event for "brown people" is being held at this location in particular. I know so from working at the club when it was an urban adult bar. I agree that teens have not and do not always act like they should be let out of the house BUT from my first hand knowledge of this event - it was closed down early by the promoters because of rowdy teens inside and there were a number of teens who were disgruntled at paying $10.00 for a party that was ended an hour and a half later because of a few "rotten apples" in the bunch. Now you have a situation where all the teens are forced to congregate outside and wait for rides and to discuss their displeasure and to top it off you have police swarming the area like the children are terrorist. Don't get me wrong, I have the UTMOST respect for our protectors in blue but I feel that the situation was exploited by the media to make it look worse than it was. Maybe that's why all the other new channels didn't view this "incident" as news worthy.

This must have involved our illegal hispanic population, since the lexington hearald didn't fine it fit to print.

After seeing this story at WKYT I searched for this story at the other local stations and the Herald-Leader: nothing. I wonder why there is so little coverage. WKYT seems to be the most consistent in covering police matters that affect us in Lexington. If the officers had not responded to this matter quickly I suspect that this situation could have been much worse. Kudos to the men and women in blue that responded to this call. We need to know what is going on in our town...and I am glad it did not become a national headline (and, if not for the great police response, it could have been).

I'm not sure what Bandeleros is, but if they serve alcohol to minors they should get deserved punishment. The public needs to know for what these kids were actually arrested, not simply guess and then point fingers. The tasered boy may have been carrying heat, but we'll never know.

I think if "kids" feel big enough to go to a bar then they should take whatever is dished out to them. If they feel so confident that they break the law and get tasered then so be it. It is time they face their own future.

I have a teenage Son and Daughter and my wife and I are going through some pretty tough years with them. My son is the oldest coming in at 17 and Saturday evening after he had worked about 8 hours he wrapped the car we had just bought him a week prior around a tree .He is fine Thank God but he refuses to listen to almost everything we try and tell him.He thinks we know nothing about what we tell him and is very disruptive to his sister {15} and his little Brother 11.And his Mother and I know that he has already had expierence with marijuana and alcohol...I just want you all to know that our small little town does'nt compare in size or population to Lexington. But we sure have teenagers.Regards Ron

were the teens drinking? if so, were there arrest for drinking? why was Bandoleros open and selling drinks on a Sunday night? when i passed the Radisson late last night, the guests were overflowing out onto the sidewalk and curb. this must have been a big drinking weekend.

I don't understand why teens are at a nightclub. Where or what is wrong with the parents of the teens? A lot of teens these days are out of control.
