SUV Slams Into Home; Teenagers Charged

A rude awakening for a Winchester woman and her family after an SUV smashed into their home.

Police say three underage girls were speeding along Cherry Street when they lost control of an SUV and crashed into the house. Police say they ran over a gas meter in the front yard, causing a natural gas leak.

Officials say all three girls fled the scene. One girl eventually went to the hospital with a leg injury.

Inside the home, there is extensive damage to the kitchen. The woman who lives there says she simply didn't know what hit her.

Nobody inside the home was hurt.

All three girls were detained by police because none of them are licensed drivers. The driver has been charged with fleeing the scene, wanton endangerment and failure to render aide. Another girl was charged with alcohol intoxication.

I would like to know the kids names. I have an underage child and would like to know if my child is spending time with these overly-reckless teens. I also feel that none of the three should be allowed to apply for their license until they are 18. Also, how did the kids get the SUV? If it was stolen from their parents will they be charged with auto theft?

I agree with Becca and Brad. No matter the age you need to be held accountable. Were these underage girls drinking? did they sneak out of the house to go on this joy ride? I am not angry with them and surely am not judging but letting stuff like this go by can only result in more of it happening.... Look at what happened to the kids when the state took out spanking from schools and the homes...! Children gone wild... Kinda like the old school saying here.... " schools out, schools out, the teachers let the monkeys out" !!!!!

IN repsonse to the anonymous commentator....its not anger or judgement I am speaking of...I am calling it as I see it...they were stupid underage girls that could have killed someone....actually taken someone's life away from them while they were in the comforts of their own home!!! That is about as careless and irresponsible as it gets.

If they committed the crime they can do the time.

IN regards to prior comment made by individual - they are being held accountable for actions. Maybe we all need to show concern instead of anger and judgement!!!

Idiots! And who is the owner of this SUV?!? To the point....all people, regardless of age, need to be held accountable for their actions. Second chances should only come after the punishment!
