Silvana Gallardo is in demand as an acting coach. She believes good acting involves channeling energy, and she puts her students through a series of exercises to help them do that.
Angelina Jolie and Keanu Reaves are among those who have studied under her.
"It's so exciting to get a phone call at 5 o' clock in the morning," Gallardo says, "because they're on location in some far away place saying they don't know how to play this scene."
Gallardo has been an actress herself, appearing on Broadway, and landing roles with stars like Charlton Heston and Jack Palance.
She's had roles on classic TV shows like "Hill Street Blues" and "L.A. Law."
So how does an actress who grew up in New York and migrated to Hollywood eventually find her way to Bourbon County?
"Because I'm smart," Gallardo says. "Very smart. Beautiful state, beautiful people. They were so supportive to me in this project I'm doing."
Now that she's here, actors wanting to hone their craft are coming to Central Kentucky from all over the country.
Gallardo also recently completed a novel and is producing a documentary film.
