Southern Kentucky Soldier Killed In Iraq

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A southern Kentucky soldier was killed in Iraq when the Humvee he was riding in was hit by an explosive device, his father said Friday.

Pfc. Joshua Moore, 20, of Logan County was killed Wednesday in the Baghdad area, his father, Jeff Moore, said in an interview.

The Pentagon had not yet confirmed Moore'e death or released information about it.

His son enlisted in the Army shortly after graduating from Logan County High School in 2005, Jeff Moore said. He was stationed in Germany until deploying to Iraq about a year ago.

Jeff Moore said his son believed in the U.S. mission in Iraq.

"He honestly felt like they were doing good," he said.

Joshua Moore had returned home recently on a 15-day furlough, and during that time he purchased a 2005 GMC truck, his father said. It was the first time his family had seen him in a year.

During his time home, Joshua Moore worked on his truck and spoke with youngsters at a local elementary school, his father said.

The family said funeral arrangements had not yet been made.
