Nicholasville Community Uneasy After Brutal Attack

A brutal attack at a Nicholasville park has many people who live in the area concerned.

Nicholasville police now say all three teenagers accused of jumping a man at Lake Mingo Park have been arrested.

Police say Brandon Morris and Travis Preston turned themselves in overnight. They arrested Ryan Cross Tuesday. During the daylight, it's a picturesque spot for picnics, walking, biking or fishing.

But at night, danger lurks in the darkness due to no lights which makes those in the park after dark easy targets.

Since the incident, Nicholasville police have stepped up patrols in the area.

The parents of these teens also need to be held responsible. Yes I'm sure the police do patrol but do they have enough officers to make it high profile? Probably not. They need a park patrol 24/7 especially during the warm months to stop these thugs and a juvenile system that will make them pay.

It's a shame when people cannot even enjoy a park without being attacked! These young men need to pay for what they have done and not just recieve a slap on the wrist!

Nicholasville community have been uneasy for some time now. Esp in the neighborhood that has Lake Mingo. It's just that this recent story has brought it to the public. There have been several other incidences involving that park including at night in the last couple of years. Teens in the neighborhood run at all hours of the night getting into mischief, drinking and vandalizing, etc. We have asked the police what can be done...and all they can say is that they patrol. But these kids know that when they are juveniles, they can basically get away with anything and they will be put back out on the street to create more havoc. What is a neighborhood to do? We are ready to move.
