Family and friends are remembering a well known eastern Kentucky TV and radio personality who died this weekend.

Donald Bevins, known in the Big Sandy Region as Doctor Don, died yesterday at Pikeville Medical Center.

Doctor Don spent decades on both the radio waves and working at television station WPRG.

“Never met a stranger, I mean, everybody loved him. A legend in the mountains just for the person he was. His voice was second to none on the air. It’s just a great loss for the mountains and everybody that knew Dr. Don,’ Adam Gearheart said.

Doctor Don's visitation will begin Tuesday night at six at Lucas and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville.

His funeral will be Thursday at one.

Dr. Don was 61 years old.
