Deadly Crash Shuts Down Mountain Parkway

A Lexington man is killed when he crashed his SUV in Wolfe County. The crash shut down the Mountain Parkway for more than an hour.
Coroner Frank Porter says Richard Collins, 24, lost control of his Chevy Colorado and went into the center median. He over corrected and the SUV flipped several times before coming to rest against the guardrail. Collins was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner says Collins is survived by his wife.

Knowing Richard all through school, and graduating together, I can say that he was in a group of select people. His mother, being our art teacher, our friend, and someone who never bypassed anyone, is in my prayers. My heart hurts to its depth for her and the family.

Richard "grew up" in the congregation where we attended church. I ask those of you reading to remember his parents, Michky and Sharon, and also Richard's wife, in your prayers. God bless them all.
