UK President gets bonus

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - U-K President Lee Todd is in line for a
142-thousand-dollar performance bonus. The university's trustees
are giving him high marks in an annual review.

The bonus brings Todd's compensation to 486-thousand for the
2006-2007 school year. The trustees gave Todd a score of 95 out of 100 in an annual review.

Board Chairman James Hardymon says Todd has done an outstanding job at the helm of the university. The full board will vote Tuesday on the bonus during a regular

Todd's current contract expires on June 30th of next year.

    how can they give a bonus but yet they raise the school price every year.

    I wish the Board of Trustees would quit kissing Dr. Todd's backside so much and realize that he has hurt the university a lot during his tenure there. The divisions and departments are poorly managed and out of control, employees are leaving in droves due to waste, mismanagement, and a corporate-like attitude from the top down in his administration. He treats UK like it's IBM and it's not working. They're losing their best and brightest to outdated policies, terrible leadership, and an effort to save money for everything except employees. They cut employee benefits yearly so that they can build another unneeded building or give Todd another raise, while those who get the least amount of money have to explain to their family that there's no cost of living increase because it's in the best interests of the university....yeah right!

    Wouldn't it be wonderful if UK's employees got that kind of bonus for the hard work they do? Instead, they get mostly around a 3.5% raise. That doesn't amount to alot to the people who aren't making alot to begin with. Especially when parking and most of the other benefits go up too. The people who have been there for 10 or more years make MAYBE 40 cents more than new hires off the street who don't have half the experience. New nurses make as much, and alot of times more, than nurses who have been at the Medical Center for years. We've heard that our spouses or children will be able to use our education credits in the future but how long before UK and Mr. Todd and the board decide to stop paying the retirement that the employees receive? Nothing is free. It all has a cost somewhere. Besides, they have to save money and make money to put up another building without thought to more parking for employees. How about Mr. Todd donate his bonus to building a parking garage big enough for all the employees and staff to park in? At least it would be a start. Or he could donate it to the employees to pay a percentage of their parking costs. That'd be super.

    I hope his contract does not get renewed. The professors deserve more than a minimum pay raise. So do all the hard-working people of UK. I do not see where Todd has made many improvements. UK's tuition hikes are going to the president's salary. WRONG in such a horrible way.
